Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal along with many other Bollywood celebrities are going to be part of the "Rock On for Humanity: In Aid of the Children of Bihar" concert, a fundraiser to aid the victims of the massive flooding in Bihar. The event is being held on October 31st from 5 until 10 pm at the MMRDA Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
In August of this year, the torrential rain in Bihar caused massive flooding and over 3.3 million people have been impacted by the horrible situation. Neither the rains nor the water have receded so not only has there been no chance to recover, conditions are getting worse. The Prime Minister has declared the floods a calamity and it is estimated by international NGO ActionAid that about 2,000 people have died.

No regrets on ‘Rock On’ not going for Oscars: Farhan Akhtar
|
| 04 October 2008 | 160 views |
‘Taare Zameen Par’ is India’s entry to the Oscars and for a change, people from within as well as outside the industry are unanimous in believing that Film Federation of India has finally got it right in sending a potential winner at the 81st annual Academy awards.
However, not many are aware that apart from ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Rock On’ was in close contention as well and closely lost out on making it to the final list.
“Hey, but I don’t have any regrets whatsoever on ‘Rock On’ not being the final selection”, Farhan Akhtar says in a honest tone, “We all know that ‘Taare Zameen Par’ is a very good film. I liked it immensely. I have worked with Aamir in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and he is a very good friend. I wish him all the success in the world. He had earlier taken ‘Lagaan’ to the Oscars and got so close. May he be the second time lucky.”

"I wanted to be like Big B"
|
| 02 October 2008 | 129 views |
When Farhan Akhtar made Dil Chahta Hai, we all appreciated what a brilliant director for a debutante he is. When he made Lakshya we appreciated what a sensitive writer he is. With Don he had us in confidence that this director will give us surprises and the next surprise he gave us was Rfarhan.jpgock On.
Never thought Farhan would be such a multi-talented guy… Looks like God put all the creativity and brains in this one guy - he is a writer, director, actor and a singer - a perfect all rounder plus he looks great too.
We never thought that Farhan who started out as a director would become an actor and take the nation by storm.

In an interview given to Spicezee’s Swati Chaturvedi for her show ‘Kahiye Janab’, the director par excellence openly talked about the difference of opinion that the two share.
Here are excerpts from a candid chat with the‘Rock On’ star:

Farhan slams ‘rock critics’
|
| 23 September 2008 | 135 views |
He was upset when ‘ill-informed’ people had made nasty comments on his film about rock bands. The director turned actor lets off steam in a conversation with AVEEK BHOWMIK.
Farhan Akhtar’s charisma and charm comes across equally in a one-on-one conversation or on-screen as in Rock On. And when you talk to him, he is completely engaging with an expression that reflects interest and understanding. Sitting relaxed at his office in Bandra after the super success of his film, Farhan hits back at all those so-called rock enthusiasts who had said the movie was hardly about rock music.
“That was all before the film had released. I haven’t heard a peep from them since its release,” he says, adding, “I completely agree with people when they say a band of this nature that was shown in the film would only sing in English. But at the end of the day I want to introduce this culture to non English-speaking people. Even they are part of this country.”

There was a time when the names Salim-Javed were thought of together. Then a rift tore the duo apart. But it seems the time has arrived when the differences seem almost forgotten, at least by Salim.
Recently, after the success of 'Rock On', Salim invited Farhan Akhtar to his home, and gave the young star a grand treatment. He praised the multifaceted performer's movie to great lengths, and Farhan was really touched by his warmth and sincere feelings.
