The duo has opposing views on promoting Karthik Calling Karthik

It seems all is not well between Deepika Padukone and Farhan Akhtar, the lead pair of Karthik Calling Karthik. The duo have been receiving many offers to appear in several reality TV shows to promote their film which releases next week.

If you are wondering whether Farhan Akhtar has a double role in "Karthik Calling Karthik", continue speculating for some time. The actor has refused to spill the beans on his role in the soon to be released film.

"All I can tell you is I play a lonely introverted character down on his luck, unsure and inarticulate. Everyone takes advantage of the guy I play," Farhan said.

He is quick to point out that he doesn't play a geek. "Karthik isn't a geek. Something happened in his childhood to make him the way he is. This guy is just an introvert."

The Bandra Kurla Complex was buzzing, as Radio Mirchi announced its winners for the finest talent of 2009 in Hindi film music at the awards night. There was palpable excitement on the red carpet as filmmaker Rakesh Roshan came in with superstar son Hrithik Roshan. The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar too had the crowds outside go wild. Even as Karthik Calling Karthik moves closer to the release date, Farhan Akhtar is busy with other things. Globetrotting, for one. Well, he’s not really on a world tour to calm his nerves before the release, instead, he is already working on his next big venture — Don 2.

Along with his business partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, he is apparently doing a recce around Germany, Turkey, Manila and Poland to scout for locations.

All the films that Farhan has been seen in so far have been produced by the actor himself. "I've no issues working for any producer as long as the project and its backers are rock-solid. An actor's worst nightmare is if his project stalls midway. The thing is, whoever has come with an acting offer wanted me to produce his films. With Karthik Calling Karthik for the first time my company is co-producing a film with a company called Magic Bean. The director Vijay Lalvani came to me with the offer to act and co-produce Karthik..."

This happened on the sets of Karthik Calling Karthik. The director Vijay Lalwani, we hear is the diligent sort, who really looks after the well-being of his stars. Now they were to shoot a scene in which Farhan Akhtar was supposed to be strangulated.

The 56th National Film Awards for year 2008 were announced today.
